Return to Prayer Letters
Dear Praying Friends and Supporting Churches,
2Ch 17:9 And they taught in Judah, and had the book of the law of the LORD with them, and went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught the people.
Here Jehoshaphat after seeking the Lord gets a burden to teach people the way of the Lord. He sends priests and Levites, notice, with the law of the Lord. Thank God that my family and I get the great privilege to go to the Germanic speaking people of Europe with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our plans and our burden, as was Jehoshaphat's, is that we may have the opportunity to teach them the way of the Lord. My Heart in these past few weeks has been on some young man in Lindau, Germany, that as was I at the age of 17 years old, might just be searching for the truth. And by the good grace of our Lord my prayer has been that I would find such a one and teach them the way of the Lord.
We want to praise the Lord this month for good meetings. Our Deputation this month was on a rather large range from Florida, on to Texas, with a trip into Mexico, then on to Oklahoma and to Missouri. Form there to Louisiana and then safely back to old Kentucky.
With many highlights in this last month, I will just list a few. One blessing is that several churches and a few individuals this past month promised support , as well as a supporting church raising our support monthly support level after a visit to Texas. We had a meeting on the border of Mexico in Texas and the pastor took us into Mexico for a trip for the day. This was a real blessing to visit a few pastors and see their work, along with an orphanage. The trip gave me a real burden not just to see the great poverty but to see the poverty and realize that most of those poor souls will live a poverty stricken life and struggle to find food for the day, only to die in their sins and go to Hell for all eternity. We saw town after town with no gospel witness in it, and a definite Roman Catholic influence, which in turn leaves them with out hope. As I saw little children digging through trash for a morsel of bread, and the satisfaction and excitement that came upon him I thought of David in Psalms 119:162, I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil. I wandered how many Germans might have been at that very moment seeking and digging for truth, though they have food, houses and clothing? I thought there might just be someone seeking truth in Germany , just as this young child was seeking bread.
After a good meeting in Oklahoma we stopped by Masters Ranch in Missouri and preached and worked with the boy's home there for a few days. After one late night service I was able to take a young man a side and see him trust the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour.
We have received Tobias's Passport , and after much prayer and requests were made we have bought tickets. Our departure date is August 14 2009. Just over 9 weeks away and so needless to say much work has to be done in preparation for departure. Please keep this major date in your prayers along with all the details of packing and shipping our things over there safely, arrival, visas, a home, and car, etc.
We want to thank you all for your sacrificial giving, and ask you to continue to give as the Lord leads, for without you we would not be thus far, nor able to take the law of the Lord and teach the people. May the Lord bless each one of you, and remember to take the law of the Lord and teach people even where you are!!!
Your missionaries to Germany,
Mark, Kacie, Naomi, and Tobias Smith.
